The Brexit Party leader could barely believe what he was hearing when it was revealed that the highest civil court in Scotland ruled Boris Johnson’s decision to prorogue Parliament as “unlawful” and “improper”. The Brexit Party leader said: “This is absolutely ridiculous! I mean, how can it be unlawful to present the Queen’s speech? It’s a new Prime Minister, it’s a new Cabinet.

“We’ve had one of the longest-running sessions of Parliament for centuries.

“How can it be unlawful for the Queen to go into Parliament next month and lay out the Government’s programme, including its policy on Brexit

“I simply can’t believe it!”

Mr Farage, who has promised to enter an election pact with the Tories in order to deliver a huge majority, is poised to undergo a series of nationwide Brexit Party events to promote his eurosceptic outfit.

Writing for the Daily Express last weekend the Brexit Party chief said: “Claims to defend parliamentary democracy fool no-one.

“These self-serving politicians want to defend Parliament’s powers, not against EU bureaucrats, but against the British people.

“A general election to clean out the House of Commons can’t come soon enough.

“This is a decisive moment in our democratic history. And we are ready. We welcome PM Johnson confronting the ragbag Remainer alliance. Now Boris faces a crucial choice.”

Earlier on Wednesday Mr Farage outlined his price to agree a “non-aggression” pact with the Tories.

He said he would agree to the deal if the Tories allowed the Brexit Party a free run to contest a total of 90 seats.

In exchange, Mr Farage said he would not field candidates against Tory MPs.

“I think if that were to be the case, Boris Johnson would find himself in an untenable position in Parliament.

“I hope it will be untenable not just because of the opposition because every member of our Conservative party who believes in the constitution would simply say it’s over.”

The case against Mr Johnson was led by Lib Dem leader Jo Swinson and SNP MP Joanna Cherry.

Ms Cherry tweeted: “Huge thanks to all our supporters and our fantastic legal team who have achieved the historic ruling that #prorogation is #unlawful.”
